The fair raises money for Charities, Education and Community needs. The 2011 Fair awarded over $620,000 in grants and scholarships to more than 60 organizations in the Lowcountry! Palmetto Oasis is proud to be part of this endeavor again.
Saturday Oct. 20, 2012 - "Unveil a Cure" for breast cancer

Palmetto Oasis is very proud to have participated, once again, in the
Komen Lowcountry Walk for the Cure on Saturday, October 20, 2011. Every year our team "Unveil a Cure" walks and raises funds for this very worthy cause, plus, 25% of our proceeds throughout the year go to this event.

Sunday, October 7, 2012 - "Latin American Festival"

Wannamaker County Park in North Charleston – Noon to 6pm we performed at 3pm!
We celebrated the sights and sounds of the Latin world. Live Salsa and Merengue music filled the air while guests sampled authentic food and crafts with plenty of activities for families to enjoy.

Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 – Untying the Strings to Domestic Violence Walk

Nasreen, Leela and Nadiya of Palmetto Oasis walked the 5k "Untying the Strings to Domestic Violence" at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. We felt this cause fit well with our Mission Statement below:
“To promote the ancient art of bellydance in a way that encourages women’s self-esteem and wellness, inspiring them to bring forth their creativity and passion for life.”

Charleston Henna and Palmetto Oasis team up at College of Charleston's Cistern!!
Palmetto Oasis and Charleston Henna teamed up with a booth at this event. Palmetto Oasis performed 2 dances and Charleston Henna provided their fabulous henna designs on patrons for a fee. This was a wonderful event and we really enjoyed responses from audience!

Palmetto Oasis will once again be a part of the
"Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure"
breast cancer fundraiser – Daniel's Island, SC
Palmetto Oasis has put together our "Unveiling a Cure" team to raise funds for this very worthy cause.
Also, during the month of October, Palmetto Oasis has joined with Mercato Restaurant on Market St. in downtown Charleston, SC to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness. Special menu items – the "Merca-Ta-Ta-Tini" and a Grilled "Pink" Pizza will be on the menu with proceedes donated to the cause! Eat. Drink. Support!
Also, when visiting Mercato's this month, you may catch a glimpe of some of our troupe members dressed in costume to encourage your support of the "Merca-ta-ta-tini" and the yummy "Pink" pizza! Enjoy!

"Mirabai" of Seattle presented a
Fusion Fan Veil Workshop hosted by Palmetto Oasis
2-4pm on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 – see photos!
Mirabai taught Chinese silk fan fusion theory and technique, a series of basic fan technique and fan dance combinations, culminating in a gorgeous little choreography!!
Thank you to all the attendees, our vendor Lacy of "Beledi Boutique" and especially to Mirabai, for sharing her knowledge and talents!

North Charleston Arts Festival
Palmetto Oasis presented “Rhythms of the Oasis,”a belly dance extravaganza, at the 25th Annual 2009 North Charleston Arts Festival on Saturday, May 2. The troupe performed from 3-4 p.m. on the main stage in the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
The new 2009 show featured elaborate costumes and a wide variety of Middle Eastern dances. Palmetto Oasis dancers used fan veils, wings, balanced large candelabras, lighted hoops, and canes in large troupe dances as well as solos and smaller group numbers. A special “I Dream of Jeannie” dance, with an appearance by local businessman Steve Varn as Major Nelson, was a crowd pleaser!

The Piccolo Amazing Race
Palmetto Oasis helped direct participants in the race to the Piccolo artist and handing them the next clue.
An adventure the entire family enjoyed. Starting at Liberty Square (adjacent to SC Aquarium); clues lead participants through eight downtown destinations featuring mini-performances by Piccolo Artists. Finish line party included food, music and prizes. Proceeds benefited the documentary film "Awaken the Dragon" about a group of cancer survivors.

Natalie taught a technique workshop here in Charleston on Sunday, March 30th. The workshop was held at St. Andrews Gym on Sam Rittenburg in West Ashley of Charleston, SC. Natalie covered oblique moves, taxim, sidewinders, and 3/4 shimmies.
